Me again :-)
The author Madeleine L'Engle starts her book called "Walking on Water : Reflections on Faith and Art" with talk of apple trees in the yard of her home. Perhaps it is not a coincidence that through the ages this image has resonated with spiritually-oriented writers. You are right, I would have loved to photograph the tree. You have, however, done one better in portraying it through words alone.

Sharani, I wish you could have seen that cherry tree, and taken a picture of it. It lives at the end of my mother's road. Judging by the size of its roots, it has not just sprung from the ground but has been there at least for my lifetime, yet I only noticed it this spring. The sky was that cold piercing blue, and the huge old tree had all its arms spread upwards as if in an uproar of joy or even laughter, its gentle petals dancing upwards in slow motion on the wind. I could not move, I just stared. It was as if God Himself had been living at the end of the road for all these years, yet I had only just noticed Him there. The next day the blooms had all blown away, and the tree seemed to pretend nothing had happened. Did I sense a chuckling wink from the Divine as walked by?

What a beautiful image about the cherry tree! So evocative. I am happy you are settled in to a new "old" home and have returned to blog writing once more. I had been missing your posts.
