While he was driving a bunch of his students were taking part in the annual running race against the train. Visions of experiencing other railway lines is great fuel for my ever-expanding imagination. The story you mention reminds us how fragile our world is. Clearly, we have much to learn about the physical. We would also do well in evolving not to take anything about this life and our sense of self-exploration for granted.
